The South Asia Region (SAR) Procurement Unit is seeking to recruit a Procurement Specialist with relevant background and experience in Procurement for its Nepal Program. The position is based in Kathmandu and requires an experienced procurement staff capable of managing complex technical matters, operational and policy issues, as well as issues related to governance and anti-corruption.
Procurement services in SAR are provided by a Procurement Team (SARPS) that is part of the Operational Services Department (SARSQ). SARSQ also includes the Financial Management Team, the Development Effectiveness Team, and the Safeguards Team. SARPS currently has offices and staff in 6 countries in South Asia: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri-Lanka. The Regional Procurement Manager (RPM) based in Washington has the overall responsibility for the management of the procurement function in SAR. Each Country Procurement Team is led by a procurement Country Focal Point (CFP) to whom the Procurement Specialist will report to.
This is a local position with 2-year Term contract.
Note: If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 2 year renewable term appointment.
